"Given that I am in the room to sleep and shower," - Please consider how much of you life you spend sleeping. Is it karmically bad to stay in a nicer place that I’m not really using? - I would argue that karma is both more complex and adaptive. It may be useful to assess your own karmic debt that you feel compelled to stay at the IP. P.S.
